Ed Melia
Edward Melia is Vice President, Internet Recruitment Training & Strategies at Monster.com. He and his associates have designed and implemented dozens of customized training programs and corporate online strategies that allow human resource professionals to harness the power of the Internet and related technologies.
Ed has over 15 years of experience in corporate human resources, technical recruiting and HR consulting in a broad range of industries. As founder and President of CyberQuest Inc, he was among the early leaders in the HR Internet field. CyberQuest was acquired in 1997 by London-based SHL, where Melia served as Managing Director of the Internet training and recruiting practice.
In addition, he has worked in corporate recruiting as the North American employment manager for a large holding company with diverse operations in 20 countries. Executive search is another area of expertise for Melia, who specialized in recruiting and placing candidates in the hi-tech and scientific industries.
Ed is a frequent speaker and workshop leader for major business symposia and professional groups, as well as the author of several articles on Internet recruiting and the effects of technology on the HR profession. He is an active member of several professionals groups and currently serves as the Y2K chairman for the SHRM Pinnacle award-winning Northeast Human Resources Association (NEHRA) Internet Days.
John Bestgen
John Bestgen is Manager, Internet Recruitment Training at Monster.com. John has developed and executed numerous online recruiting strategies for some of today's fastest growing organizations.
John's experience spans executive retained search, large volume professional staffing, project management and business development. Having worked as a principal consultant for a national management consulting firm, John effectively leveraged a comprehensive online recruiting strategy to fill several openings for Fortune 500 companies in the high tech and consulting industries. Additionally, he served as director of corporate recruiting for a $200 million commodity trading organization, where he implemented a targeted online recruiting program. In less than eight months, this program resulted in increased staffing by 75% and a dramatic decrease in costs per hire.
John is often asked to share his online recruiting experience and is a frequent speaker at professional development seminars. He has served in leadership positions on several online recruiting focus groups and developed and delivered training programs in Internet recruiting, technical applications and sales.
